Key figures: wines of the mediterranean IGPs and the IGP Méditerranée. (Jan 16, 2012)

Since the publication of the official bulletin of the ministry of Agriculture September 25th, specifies that only 75 IGP stayed , against 153 local wines previously existed. Certain namings disappeared, the others emerged and the IGP benefits from now of territorial mentions.

Created in August, 2009, Intervins Sud -Est is the organisation of promotion and defense of wines with Geographical Indication Protected within the IGP Mediterranean Sea. It covers the territories of the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (6 départements: Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes de Haute-Provence) and the region Rhône-Alpes (5 départements: the Rhône, the Loire, Isère, the Ardèche, the Drôme).

In figures Intervins Sud Est represent  the actors that  account for:

- 1,548 898 hectoliter production on 27 341 hectares in 2010,

900 particular cellars and 130   cellar cooperatives, 30 trade houses in region

12,5 % of the total production of wines of IGP in France.

- 14 wines to IGP and 9 territorial mentions

On the whole territory :
IGP Mediterranée

In Provence:

  •
  • IGP Bouches du Rhône with possibility of the territorial mention Terre de Camargue / IGP Alpilles
  • IGP Var with possibility of the territorial mentions Argens - Coteaux du Verdon – Sainte Beaume / IGP Mont Caume / IGP Maures
  • IGP Vaucluse with possibility of the territorial mentions Aigues - Principauté d’Orange

In Vallée du Rhone

  • IGP Méditerranée with a possibility for territorial focus on Comté de Grignan ‐ Coteaux de Montélimar
  • IGP Drôme with a possibility for territorial focus on Comté de Grignan ‐ Coteaux de Montélimar / IGP coteaux des Baronnies
  • IGP Collines Rhodaniennes
  • IGP Ardèche with a possibility for territorial focus on Coteaux de l’Ardèche

In  The Alpes

  • IGP Alpes de Haute-Provence
  • IGP Hautes-Alpes
  • IGP Alpes-Maritimes

If the specifications of the IGP are more flexible than those of the AOP, the IGP of the Southeast wished to preserve a control product  on 100 % of wines or 100 % of the producers (i.e. beyond the threshold of national minimal control, nevertheless already fixed to 50 % of wines of 50 % of the producers of wines IGP).
